Udinese have urged Italian football authorities to take decisive action after their English striker Keinan Davis alleged he was the target of racist abuse during Saturday’s 2-0 Serie A victory at Cagliari.
The incident reportedly occurred in the final moments of the match when the 28-year-old was involved in a physical altercation with several opposition players. Davis, who moved to Udinese from Aston Villa in 2023, later took to social media to accuse Cagliari defender Alberto Dossena of making racist comments, writing, “I hope Serie A takes action.”
Udinese issued a statement expressing “full support” for their forward, describing the verbal abuse as “disgraceful” and “despicable.” The club added, “Udinese Calcio hopes that the sports justice bodies, in whom we have the utmost confidence, will deal with the matter swiftly.”
Cagliari said they condemn all forms of discrimination but were “surprised and deeply disappointed” by the allegations, denying any racist language had been used.
Davis, who also had loan spells at Nottingham Forest and Watford, has scored 10 goals in 26 Serie A appearances this season.
