AEK Athens, led by former Lokomotiv and CSKA coach Marko Nikolic, have won the Greek Super League title after a dramatic 2-1 victory over Panathinaikos in the fourth round of the Champions playoff on May 10, 2026.
Trailing 1-0, AEK equalized in the 73rd minute through forward Zini. The winning goal came in stoppage time (90+4), scored by ex-Lokomotiv player João Mário, securing the comeback win.
With 70 points from 30 matches, AEK now leads the table by eight points over PAOK and Olympiacos, with only two games remaining. Nikolic clinched the championship in his debut season at the Athens club, having taken over in 2025. He previously managed Russian sides Lokomotiv Moscow (2020-2021) and CSKA Moscow (2024-2025).
