The players and coaches of Avangard Omsk have flown from Moscow to Omsk, returning home after a challenging playoff campaign.
On May 6, the team lost to Lokomotiv Yaroslavl in Game 7 of the KHL Gagarin Cup semifinals (3-4 in double overtime, series 3-4). On May 8, it was revealed that the team was initially unable to depart from Yaroslavl due to the airport being closed for air traffic. Consequently, the squad traveled by bus from Yaroslavl to Moscow.
“Our team has taken a flight from Moscow to Omsk. We invite everyone to the Omsk airport to welcome the ‘Hawks’ home after such a difficult playoff run in every sense,” the club stated in a message.
“Put on your team gear and greet the guys with all the love Omsk has to offer. The plane is expected to land approximately between 1:30 and 2:00 AM local time. Please note: young fans must be accompanied by parents when outside at this late hour!”
