Georgian tennis player Nikoloz Basilashvili has advanced to the fourth round of the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Rome for the first time in his career at age 34.
In the third round, the 117th-ranked Basilashvili defeated American Brandon Nakashima, the world No. 36, with a score of 7-6 (7-5), 6-4.
Basilashvili’s next opponent will be Russian star Andrey Rublev, as he bids for a quarterfinal spot.
The former world No. 16 achieved his best-ever Masters 1000 result, aside from reaching the final in Indian Wells in 2021.

The Rome tournament, boasting a prize fund of €8.235 million, will conclude on May 17.
